A favorite quote of mine is “What Would You Do if You Weren’t Afraid?”- Sheryl Sandberg. For me one of the things that makes me the most uncomfortable, is speaking my mind in a public forum. I am shy about putting my views and opinions out on the internet. I have a fear of putting myself out there and others viewing me differently. My desire to be amenable to all can supersede, at times, a hope to impact change and make a difference in my lifetime.
It wasn’t until recently that I have found myself with a wish to bring to light areas in which I see social injustices that prevent women from being treated as equals to men. I don’t claim to have all of the answers and in no way can I speak for all women. What I do wish is to share experiences, videos, and stories that empower women and have made a difference in my life and those around me. As a sociologist I also hope to share ways in which I see the oppression and in equalities towards women that still exist in society today. I approach this blog with an open heart and open mind, excited to step out of my shell and share with the world around me what I see and experience… So here goes, this blog is what I would do if I wasn’t afraid.
This is the best “About” statement I’ve ever read. Thank you for writing!
